Welcome to the Senior School at the English School of Mongolia (ESM). Our world-class education system prepares students in Years 9 to 12 for future success by combining the rigour of the English National Curriculum with the internationally renowned Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level programmes, as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme or Certificate and the Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies. ESM is dedicated to meeting the requirements of the Mongolian Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science and fostering an atmosphere of growth and achievement.

Curriculum Overview:

  1. Cambridge IGCSE Curriculum (Grades 9 & 10): Our Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for students with diverse abilities, including those for whom English is not their first language. With over 21 subjects and nine language options, students can choose subjects most suited to their interests and goals. Our curriculum fosters the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and cultural awareness.
  2. IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 & 12): The prestigious IB Diploma Programme is a two-year course respected by leading universities worldwide. The curriculum consists of the DP core and six subject groups, allowing students to develop a well-rounded educational experience. ESM offers over 20 subjects for students to choose from across various disciplines.
  3. IB Certificate (Grades 11 & 12): For students not enrolled in the full IB DP curriculum, individual subject IB certificates are available. ESM requires certificate students to choose four subjects from the available pool of IB DP courses, without the need to complete the DP core.
  4. International Foundation Diploma (Grades 11 & 12): For students seeking an alternative to the IB pathway, the International Foundation Diploma provides a pre-university qualification that bridges the gap between high school and undergraduate study. This internationally recognised program is regulated by the English Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
  5. Online Learning: At ESM, we utilise Google Classroom to supplement day-to-day learning. Our teachers are prepared to transition to full-scale online learning at short notice, if necessary, during the school year. All students receive a personal ESM Gmail account to access their Google Classroom.
