Director's Welcome
Mr. Connor Vinnicombe
Welcome to The English School of Mongolia (ESM) in Ulaanbaatar. At our school we are proud to serve a richly diverse community of families from Mongolia and over 30 other nationalities. I believe that in ESM, every child has a place where they can learn and grow. No matter what their background is, or what their individual path to success may be, everyone has a place in our community.
As a British International School, accredited by British Schools Overseas (BSO), we offer a broad range of curricula including IB Programmes and Cambridge IGCSEs, all informed by the English National Curriculum and best practices from the UK to give ESM a distinct British quality and style in the heart of Ulaanbaatar.
ESM is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people in our care, following the BISSC Code of Conduct for safer recruitment, and with a robust Safeguarding Policy. We understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we expect everyone working at our school to share this commitment.
We follow the key principle that everyone at ESM should be safe, happy and learning. I invite you to contact us to arrange a school visit, where you can see this in action for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you into our community and working together to support your child's lifelong learning journey.

MISSION STATEMENT
The English School of Mongolia aims at delivering high calibre education while focusing on celebrating cultural and personal values. Supporting students’ educational, moral, social and spiritual needs, ESM creates a learning environment where the strengths of every child can be identified and nurtured.
While striving for academic excellence, ESM creates life-long learners, who are self-confident and well-organised independent thinkers, curious about the world around them. Recognising the community educates global citizens who will be the “change-makers” in Mongolia’s development.

Let It Flow Project: A Community Effort in Action
Over the winter season, we were delighted to see the successful completion of the Let It Flow project, made possible through the generosity and support of the ESM community.
The fundraising initiative, organised in collaboration with BakeItMonthly and alongside a school-wide Donation Drive, brought together students, parents, and staff from both ESM campuses in support of this meaningful cause.
During the winter vacation, the collected gifts and donations were delivered to the children at Manna Orphanage. It was a deeply meaningful experience, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share a few moments from that visit with our wider community.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed, and in particular to Eunjin Cho (Grade 12) for her leadership, dedication, and commitment in coordinating this project. These collective efforts reflect the strong sense of care, responsibility, and community spirit that defines ESM. ... See MoreSee Less

Super proud of you Eunjin Cho and team. Keep spreading kindness!!
Who says the last day of school can’t be fun and educational?
This term, our Grade 3 students have been learning about different types of poetry, and when they discovered that secondary students were creating blackout poetry, their curiosity took over. With big smiles and even bigger questions, these young poets made their way up to the fourth floor to see the process in action and try it out themselves. Watching them learning how to choose words, create meaning, and proudly share their thoughts on the outcome was a joy to see. Moments like this remind us that learning goes beyond classrooms and age and curiosity truly has no limits. ... See MoreSee Less

Today was a truly purposeful and heartwarming day for the ESM Student Council as we visited Manaa Orphanage, carrying with us gifts filled with love, generosity, and hope. Thanks to the incredible support from ESM parents, students, teachers, and staff, we were able to cater to the needs of children from newborns to 6 years old, from essentials to little Christmas surprises.
The joy on the children’s faces was unforgettable. Their laughter, excitement, and pure happiness reminded us what Christmas is really about: kindness, compassion, and giving without expecting anything in return. Every hug, smile, and shared moment made this visit deeply meaningful for all of us.
Here’s what our StuCO members shared about this special day 💫

Today was a very educational and inspiring experience. It was heartwarming to see the children happy about their gifts, and I was excited to make their holidays a memorable experience for them. I felt a lot of joy today, and I'm grateful we got to help these children, especially the disabled and less fortunate. It really inspired me to see these children be cared for with what little resources the orphanage has to offer. All in all it was a great day.

Thank you so much for letting us be with kids! We had a great time watching them receiving their gifts and playing with them, they are so cute and playful! It was quite an experience for me since I have never dealt with this many children at once, but it was worth it!

Visiting the Manaa Orphanage kids was a truly wonderful experience. Seeing them kindly ask for help opening their gifts warmed my heart. They shared their snacks with one another and even offered me some. The kindness and joy they showed made the experience unforgettable there are truly no words to describe it.

Helping at the orphanage was one of the cutest experiences I’ve ever had. I love babies, and seeing all those adorable babies so happy made my heart flutter. Seeing little kids running around happily with their gifts is a must experience sight for everyone. I’d definitely do this again and again if I get the chance!

Visiting Manaa Orphanage with our student council was truly meaningful, especially seeing the little newborn babies, they felt incredibly special and reminded me how precious and fragile life is. Our Christmas Tree of Joy activity, decorating together and giving gifts, brought so much happiness to the children and showed how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. It was a heartwarming experience that strengthened our sense of responsibility, compassion, and unity as student leaders presenting our school.
This Christmas, our students didn’t just give gifts, they gave time, love, and humanity. So proud of our Student Council for leading with heart and reminding us all that the true spirit of Christmas lives in giving. 🎁✨ A heartfelt thank you to every parent, student, teacher, and staff member who took part. Your generosity turned kindness into joy and made this Christmas truly meaningful. ❤️🎄 ... See MoreSee Less
