Dear Parents, A regular glance at FACEBOOK confirms that scarcely a day passes at ESM without an Achievement or Event to record.
Alongside some splendid pieces at the various Mongolian Festival offerings last week, our UBAC U15 Girls/ U15 Boys Volleyball Teams both won 1st places over the other UB International Schools at the weekend; we had high placings in the City’s Fencing Tournament; two outstanding paintings awarded 1st and 2nd in the IET Mongolia’s 10th Anniversary Children’s Art Exhibition held at the Art Centre for Children; a trip to the Fire Station by Grade 1; Remembrance Day was marked by a moving reflection on World War 1 for Assembly by Grade 6D and Readings from Grade 5 Pupils at the British Embassy’s Choijin Temple Ceremony on Monday.
We have added to our growing list of University Presentations with two talks to Grade 12 this week and previously the Acting Canadian Ambassador had spoken to a Middle and Senior School Assembly. Also today, Grade 3 are out at the Fine Art Museum- one of many visits across UB planned for the Junior School. Today and Tomorrow is the Science Fair, now an established ESM tradition full of ingenuity and inquiry, with practicals and demonstrations aplenty in the Dining Hall. On Friday we have another Reception Hall Pop-Up Lunchtime Concert- this time Jazz.
Next Week (Week 5) sees Professional Development Week with two visiting Coaches/Consultants, both from England. They will be running workshops through the week for Students and Staff as well as the Friday 11:30am Workshop for Parents. Saturday 23 November sees the whole staff engaged on a day-long Workshop devoted to improving Teaching and Understanding skills throughout the entire ESM age range.
We are currently embarked on one-to-one Progress Talks with Pupils in many grades and considering overall Assessment of Progress from Pre-School to PYP to Middle Grades to IGCSE to IB Diploma and Certificate. Music is in the air with the 5th Songs Competition on the horizon (scheduled in under 3 weeks from now) and the 2020 main School Musical Production to be performed once more at the Opera House just announced as the Mongolian Premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, with Auditions starting in Week 6.
So, as normal, lots for our students to take on board.
Regards,
Graham Hill
