20 August 2018

Dear Parents,

Now Enrolling, as the Poster in the Front Quad proclaims; and it is certainly true that ESM has been very busy receiving over the last 3 weeks: with our largest Roll in the School’s history and 200 new students joining us.

With the expansion, we are watching numbers on a daily basis, especially at Pre-School, but at several other points, before deciding whether we need to create some new classes (and, of course, new classrooms). We are also currently working at some building plans for execution over the next few months.

July and August saw the usual maintenance works and a highly successful 4 weeks Summer School. Recently we have received our external Exam Results, with some impressive clusters of Grades in IGCSE and an IB Diploma Average Grade of 5.0, well above the World Average, with 20 candidates passing the Diploma.

This week has seen the bringing into play of the ESM Diploma, as well as a range of new options for IGCSE and IB Diploma Candidates. Our Form Tutors are mentoring all students, old and new, in their classes and from August 27, we have the buses running and the Club Programme in full swing. If you have not already seen it, please ask at Reception for the latest School magazine which is just out.

A first draft of the Calendar for term 1 is Online, with dates for 4 countryside days for all Grades from 1-12 over the next fortnight. Plans are advanced for the first FOBISIA Model UN Conference in Mongolia hosted by ESM to take place at the end of September. A more detailed Calendar will be produced by the end of the month, when we have sporting fixtures agreed with the other UB International Schools.

After the traditional Opening Ceremony on 16 August, to the accompaniment of the Philharmonic Orchestra and blessed with a fine morning, ESM has swiftly moved into gear. We have a large number of great additions to the Teaching Staff and a real buzz around the School.

Hopes are high that 2018-2019 will indeed turn out to be an exceptional year at ESM.
