5 February 2018

Dear Parents,

We are now into the second Half of the Term with a big focus on academic matters: Assessments, Exam choices and preparation, Coursework deadlines. There will be an Update sent to Parents on individual Students’ Progress, ahead of Parents’ Evenings across the School on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 February.

Just concluded has been a successful week on the theme of Positive Living, Positive Education. This has been run by Clive Leach, Coach and Facilitator, based in London, who ran a series of Talks and Inter-active Sessions for Students and Parents, culminating in a Development Day in Nukht on Saturday for 85 ESM Staff. Alongside this, Pret-A-Portrait, a leading UK photographic Firm, has been busy all last week taking photos of all of our Students, and a big variety of ESM Shots. We look forward to the results soon.

Our U19 Basketball Teams continued their good run in the 8 Schools ISU Tournament with 2nd Place for the Boys and 3rd Place for the Girls.

On 20, 21 January we hosted the ESM UN Conference with 180 Delegates from other International Schools: a highly successful Students-led Event. And this coming Saturday 10 February, we are running the TEDx Youth @ ESM Day with 9 Guest Speakers and 100 other guests.

Rehearsals are underway in earnest now for “Evita” and also for the Junior Production of “Oliver Twist”. This week too, Reading is much to the fore in the Junior School with the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Scheme.

We are approaching the Tsagaan Sar Break and in line with other School marking Mongolian New Year with 3 Days’ Holiday. The Break will be from 15.10 pm on Thursday 15 February with School re-opening on Wednesday 21 February. On that day (Wednesday), ESM will be celebrating the Traditional Costumes of Mongolia with everyone invited to attend School in Deels.

Still wintery weather, but ESM in good, optimistic Stride!

Kind regards,

Graham Hill
